The reason why there are no new clay creations

Lady with a Pot

One reason why there are no new clay creations on my website is because I’m going through a divorce. I won’t be writing in this blog or the design blog until the process is finished.

Also, due to the fact that I use FrontPage 2003 and there are no new updates to that software, my e-commerce section cannot be viewed correctly with the new browsers of FireFox, Safari, and Chrome. The NoraJean-Designs section has to be taken down and built again because I used a FrontPage “theme” for the structure.

This also has impacted the sections: BH4DO, the CITY-List subsites, the photo galleries, and any tutorial that uses a “slide show” format. This work will take time to complete.

Every so often I have to take time out from creating new polymer clay items, building new tutorials, to do web re-org. Like when PhotoPoint went dark and the volunteers and I had to hustle to save webcam demo photos and put them into Epson photo storage albums, and all the links spread all over the website had to be updated. Then Epson photo storage was to close down and the volunteers and I had to hustle again to save the demo shots and I put them into photo galleries on my website. Again the links had to be updated. Since the FrontPage photo galleries cannot be seen correctly in the new browsers the demo shots have to be given standard web pages and I’m hoping I will be able to keep the links as they are.

It has been my mission for the last 10 years to provide free polymer clay tutorials for the visitors to my website, because I feel that there are more clayers on a tight budget than those who can afford retreats, books, and videos.  I remain steadfast in my intention to continue to provide free tutorials.

As for my e-commerce section, once it is built, new creations will be listed for sale. All the creations you see on my site that I still have are “smoke damaged” because until this last year I have not been able to have a smoke free environment. I cannot sell jewelry, tins, or sculptures that smell like an ash tray.

I know that the ClayMates at CITY-o-Clay have seen me post less in the recent months. Know that I am working behind the scenes every day doing admin for the group. As you can well imagine going through a divorce is a difficult process and I don’t want to subject the ClayMates or the visitors to my website with the details of what I’m going through. I want to thank the volunteers who make up the team at COCModSquad for keeping the activity and good fellowship of CITY-o-Clay going during this time. Without the help of all the volunteers CITY-o-Clay would be leaderless while I am distracted with personal issues and web work.

There is nearly a gigabyte worth of tutorials available that have been built over the 10 years of my serving the polymer clay and miniature community. I ask that you be patient for new tutorials and blog posts. Better yet, if you have free tutorials and blog posts let me know and I’ll link them to my home page. Many hands make lighter work, yes?

So until the final judgment of my divorce this will be the last blog post here and I will link this blog post to NoraJean-Designs blog as well.

I use “Lady with a Pot” as my icon for this post because that was created after the devastating earthquake in Pakistan. I remind myself that no matter what my problems may be I still am blessed with a loving family and friends, a roof over my head, food in the cupboard, hot and cold potable water, electricity, internet access, a computer, and my ClayMates for good fellowship. I do not live in Haiti nor Chile. I do not fear bombs falling from the sky. I know I have a better life than 75% of the world’s population so I shall count my blessings and trust that my fate is in the hands of God.

I have just stumbled across your web site and recently (as of last year) started working with polymer clay.

It sounds like you’ve hit a rough patch of growing, changing, adapting and adjusting. I just wanted to drop you this line to let you know I am so glad I found you. So happy to find the tutorials you have and so glad you will continue to when you can.

    And, thank you. <3
