http://www.norajean.com/New_Projects/Masks/Index.htm
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: oh my Esther!!!!
norajean_sf: Ok, there's the link for the Masks
Lisa in Maine: my cats are too lazy to chase anything
but each other
norajean_sf: and as you saw the forms that are used
for masks can be made with your scrap clay and
aluminum foil
Alix: wait til i get there in July LOL
norajean_sf: Bring your sweat shirts and long jeans,
it's cold here in July
little38chevy: nj what about paper mache with a good
coating on it?
norajean_sf: Mark Twain said the coldest winter he
ever spent was a summer in San Francisco
Lisa in Maine: NJ ... how are plans going for your
upcoming tour?
jude: I believe it, NJ.
norajean_sf: The Tour may be delayed for a bit. Long
story and I'll post it to the list.
norajean_sf: So about the question about paper mache
Lisa in Maine: awwwww ... alrighty ... hope everything
OK
norajean_sf: I use clay and aluminum foil for I can
put it all in the oven
minimadness423: answering roll call late...KathyL in
Kentucky...back from chasing a cat.
norajean_sf: and not worry about it
little38chevy: don,t want to waist clay
Alix: Durham water putty excellent lightweight fill ..
ApoxieSculpt peerless outer shell
little38chevy: ok
little38chevy: ty
minimadness423: he sure has a chronic case of
git-up-ons today
norajean_sf: In time you'll have scrap clay to use for
something like this. But if you want to make masks a
lot, sacrifice some clay for the form.
norajean_sf: This form here, I've had for years and
years
norajean_sf: it's been in and out of the oven a bunch
of times
little38chevy: ok cool
norajean_sf: I put foil over it and then lay the clay
on it and cure it all together
Lisa in Maine: do you bake the "new" mask on the form
itself?
Lisa in Maine: nebermind
Lisa in Maine: LOL
merrie60us left the room
merrie60us joined the room
norajean_sf: the foil keeps the clay from sticking to
the form, and the form keeps the clay from loosing the
shape
norajean_sf: Velcro Merrie to her chair somebody!!
merrie60us: ugh!
norajean_sf: Gosh Merrie you've been having a time of
it today
minimadness423: I love using Durham's water putty. I
used it many times over carved floral oasis and then
"painted" Durhams over it. It looks like stone but is
feather light...great for a resin fountain to float
clay water lilies
merrie60us: must be the cold weather
little38chevy: neat idea
norajean_sf: that's better, the lighting was weird
rjchase222 joined the room
Mary in OH: Hi Razma
Missy~VA: hiya raz
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: hi RJ
little38chevy: hello razma
Lisa in Maine: Hey Raz
msraven54: Hi Raz

clayalley: I got people from Baltimore coming so I
don't know how long I will be here
bonsaikathy: how's it going hon
merrie60us: Hi Karen
clayalley: Hey Kathy!
norajean_sf: Now the point I wanted to make with this
mask here is by using Non Flower Colors with your
flowers you can get a weird effect, almost dream like.

clayalley: How are YOU
norajean_sf: Yo Karen
clayalley: Yo Momma
norajean_sf: LOL
bonsaikathy: doing ok
bonsaikathy: thanks
Staci: Hiya Karen
clayalley: Getting Mugged
elissaheart: hey, Karen!
clayalley: Hey Elissa
msraven54: Wowie, Wowie, I just got large order for
20-30 pieces for Xmas gifts!!!
rjchase222: Hey Karen glad u r here
norajean_sf: Razma tell the folks how these parts were
made
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: cool Raven!
clayalley: Thanks hon
minimadness423: you know those plastic wedding cake
columns in the cake decor aisle...cover them with
Durham's to look like stone.
Mary in OH: Cool Raven!
rjchase222: the dcf!!
msraven54: Thanks
Mary in OH: brb, gotta get some lunch
norajean_sf: exactamundo
minimadness423: I just had a private IM asking what
Durham's Water Putty is...do I thought I would answer
here.
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: hb Mary
Alix: back ... went after Minnie and the pizza ads
norajean_sf: Sure KathyL
merrie60us: good
msraven54: I have plenty time to make, and am gonna
sit down in week or so and determine exactly what she
wants and price--made my day
bonsaikathy: it's a great product and I also like Daps
brand as it's pure white
merrie60us: so what is it???
clayalley: I need to get some of that
clayalley: its a hard putty
norajean_sf: Good Question Merrie
norajean_sf: LOL
Staci: UGH, just found an old block of
transparent.....
msraven54: Sorry it's OT, but I am thrilled!
rjchase222: did I answer my question right NJ?
Missy~VA: go raz go raz!
clayalley: exactamundo
minimadness423: Durhams is found at hardware stores,
Lowe's and Home Depot. It is a powder in 1 and 5 pound
cans. It mixes with water and dries to a "rock" hard
finish.
norajean_sf: you sure did Razma
george_schenck left the room
rjchase222: OOOOOO good now I can get a star on my
shoe
msraven54: WTG Raz
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: LOL
norajean_sf: Another Petal on your Clay Daisy
merrie60us: so you can put it on foil and make a mold?
bonsaikathy: and it's cheap too
merrie60us: I love that round flower in the back
msraven54: Bonsai Kathy--How r u feeling?
merrie60us: Can you bake the clay on the Durhams?
msraven54: Pretty flowers NJ
norajean_sf: Just wanted to remind folks that these
flowers were made with the same cane
bonsaikathy: doing ok, thanks hon
Staci: Bless my daughter, she found an old toothbrush
and is cleaning my food proccessor out for me
merrie60us: OOH
msraven54: np, just checking
merrie60us: is that what you did last night?
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: awwwww Staci
Lisa in Maine: pretty cane, NJ
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: yes it is Merrie
minimadness423: I like using it for stone
projects...stone columns, covering plastic toys to
make yard sculpures. Since Durham's dries a nice stone
gray, it is then easy to dry brush other shades of
gray for highlights. I have even added acrylic paint
to it to make a different base color.
Lisa in Maine: very pretty flowers!
norajean_sf: 04-03-04 Demo: One cane makes many
flowers. Two examples, dozen pictures and 2 demo logs.
http://www.norajean.com/New_Projects/2004-FlowersLeaves/Demo-04-03-04-Index.htm
rjchase222: Staci just take alcohol on paper towel &
wipe out processor
Staci: Oh, that is a good idea RJ
Staci: But I am grounded from alcohol
rjchase222: thats what I use & its quick & easy
norajean_sf: Ok, now let's take this cane here and
double it and see what we get
rjchase222: LMAO Staci o no then get baby wipes with
alcohol in them
Staci: Last time I used it I ended up taking a trip to
the ER cause some splashed in my eye and left
scratches
little38chevy: i am afraid it will burn out my small
prossesor
minimadness423: it is fun to work with...just don't
clean out the excess in the sink...let it dry and then
flake it out of the bowl. If you save yogurt
containers or other shallow butter bowls, you can flex
the bowl and it pops...or just toss the continer.
merrie60us: Thanks
minimadness423: smaller batches work better as it will
start to cure. I buy the cheap plastic bristle kid's
paint brushes in those gazillion for a $1 packages.
The putty won't cling to the bristles and they are
cheap enough to toss.
rjchase222: NJ seems to be doing a repeat from last
nite LOL
Shirley: that's ok, I wasn't here last night
merrie60us: I can never get enough of flowrs and
flower canes
merrie60us: missed last night also
rjchase222: me either maybe one day I'll be able to
make them but first have to learn to do skinner blend
merrie60us:  you will
rjchase222: NJ makes it all look so simple & easy
Staci: She is making a new flower
Staci: She is taking the cane she made last night and
making new I think
merrie60us: She has been doing it for years
merrie60us: Practice practice practice
rjchase222: I keep practicing practicing practicing
norajean_sf: Top of the hour save
merrie60us: me too
norajean_sf: brb
~Shannon~Clayladyinred: for those reading the log, NJ
cut a cane in half, and pressed them together, with a
strip of blend in between them
