 2000 was when I discovered that one can take extruded clay and hand mold it
while it's fresh hot out of the oven.
I took clay and extruded it onto a cookie sheet. When it was cured and still hot it was bendable I wondered if I could take these hot extruded strands and mold them by hand under cold flowing water to shape it into forms that could not be done raw, forms that would not have held their shapes in the oven. It worked. Below is an egg of extruded strands that was formed under flowing cold water. I just gathered them up while they were still hot and ran to the cold water faucet and formed it quickly while it cooled. |
