Step 6) Here is the trick to the hinges. You cut out the space for the hinge on both sides of the egg. I cut a bit lower than I need because I want an anchoring layer of clay beneath my hinge half.



 
Now for those who like both belt and suspenders approach, you could cut a bit deeper and bury the little screws that come with these hinges.
