A Pray and a Plea from your Muslim Relative
an open letter to my new found Brummett family |

Peace and Blessings be upon you,
Many of you don't know me personally. I'm the second
daughter of the late Billie Ray Brummett. I live in San Francisco and I
am Muslim.
I want to take this moment for all believers in the
One God, the Merciful and Beneficent, to gather together and remember
that the taking of one life is to kill humanity. God gives us free will
to do good or evil. These people who committed these horrendous acts are
evil men and are condemned by the Islamic Community.
All of us will agree that the God of Abraham is the
God of love and peace. That we are all brothers and sisters in the eyes
of the One God. This being so, all of us hurt, all of us mourn and all
of us have to look to ourselves as to what good can we do in this time
of national crisis.
I plead with my Christian brothers and sisters do no
fall into the notion that Muslims condone that which befell us
this sad Tuesday, for we lost 800 Muslims that day. Muslims are
working the front lines at Ground Zero shifting through rubble. Our
Mosques are exhorting the members to give to relief agencies, donate
blood and pray for peace. Sunday all Mosques are open from 10am to Noon
prayer for their neighbors to come and meet them and know they are a
people dedicated to peace and submitting to God's will.
To condemn Islam as a whole religion for the acts of
evil men is likened to blaming all Christians for Timothy McVeigh. It is
wrong thinking and must be stemmed.
To want revenge, vent anger, spread fear and ill will
is to allow these evil men to control our minds, our hearts and our
lives, and this must be stemmed.
Now is the time for all believers, no matter what
their creed, to ban together in love and harmony to fight evil, in
ourselves, in our homes and in our communities, this is our common
struggle, may God give us strength and wisdom to fight the good fight
and bring the evil ones to justice, not to seek revenge in hurtful anger
and pollute our spirits.
I share with you my favorite prayer from the Koran:
Al Mo'on
Beware of the man who makes a lie out of his religion
who can be seen making a big show of worship
but who repels the orphan
refuses the feeding of the needy
and refuses his neighbor that small kindness.
I exhort my Christian brothers and sisters to
remember that small kindness to our selves, our family and our
community. The smallest act of kindness is a strike against evil. The
smallest act of kindness is to work to rebuild shattered lives. The
smallest act of kindness shows our faith for it is faith that combats
fear. Fear is the outer manifestation of evil and evil breeds from it.
Pray with me, my brothers and sisters in Christ, from
your holy book. The Twenty-third Psalm:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh
me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for
his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff
they comfort me. Thou preparest the table before me in the presence of
mine enemies; thou annointeth my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I
will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Amen
We walk now through the Valley of Death, our hearts
must be filled with faith and love, for it does not say we dwell in the
Valley of Death, we're walking. We will walk through this together and
come out into the light and love of The Lord.
Yes these are dark days and there's hard work to do
and our faith will be tested sorely. I pray that God gives us all strength,
wisdom and compassion to get through these sad times. I pray that God's
unfaltering love fill your hearts and ease your sorrow. I know in my
heart and in all of my spirit that those who died innocently will find a
welcome home in God's house. On the Last Day these innocent people who
were slain will be given everlasting life in the love of God.
The hardest task for me as a believer is to pray for
the wrong doers and ask for God's forgiveness in their misguided
thinking that lead to this evil event. The hardest thing for me as a
believer is to pray that those who are accomplices of these evil men be
shown the light and love of God and repent their evil and aid in
bringing about justice and a lasting peace.
I pray for our President, give him strength, wisdom
and compassion. I pray for our men and women in the Service who are
willing to protect the freedoms we have here in our nation with their
own lives. I pray for the hospital, police, firefighters and other
personnel who work tirelessly that their burdens be made lighter with
the faith in their heart that this is what they can do, will do, simply
for the love of God. I pray for all of us to seek peace, do positive
actions in their communities and do to your neighbor that small
kindness.
I've created a yahoogroups called The Brummett Clan
in order for the family to have an easy way to broadcast prayers and
family news to one another. I invite you to join this email group so we
can pull together as a family, comfort each other, learn from one
another, and love one another. If you are not part of the Brummett Clan
I ask you to create an email group for your family, for in staying in
touch we build upon our love for one another and can offer each other
comfort during these sad times. We are far removed by miles but we
can be united this way.
I have also created a Memorial Tribute page on my
website, http://www.norajean.com/911.htm
there are links to where one can get help. There is
an article on how do we tell our children what has happened. There are
letters I wrote to my clayart list on taking positive action. I invite
you to come visit my website and get to know this far flung relative who
holds you all dear in her heart.
Yours in Peace and sharing the love of the One God, the God of
Abraham,
NoraJean Brummett-Gatine
your Muslim sister in San Francisco
