chelyha: I started a tree with foil and wire armature, and baked it
chelyha: I want to do a spooky tree

saved
chelyha: so you can use tls to reconstitute old clay
chelyha: that is good to know

Fearless Leader: an easy way to do a blend
Fearless Leader: is to not just fold it in half with each pass
Fearless Leader: but roll it like a cigar, pinch the side that's going
into the rollers
Fearless Leader: and you'll get a blend with 6 passes instead of two
dozen

Fearless Leader: ok who doesn't know how to take a blended sheet and
make it a long ribbon with one color at one end and the other color at
the other end?
Fearless Leader: so everyone knows how this is done?
techi_mom56: i learned it off the web site this morning...loved it

Fearless Leader: now to make a blended ribbon do double duty, slice
down the length
Fearless Leader: and roll it up from opposite directions
Fearless Leader: that way you'll have instant variety in your jelly
roll blend

Fearless Leader: you can use it for the segments in your leaf cane

Fearless Leader: to raise it up
Fearless Leader: then when you find a part you want to receed
Fearless Leader: press down when there's filler around it
Fearless Leader: that's exactly what we're doing today

Fearless Leader: the center vein is gold sandwiched between crimson

Fearless Leader: that pressed leaf is with the gold on the inside
Fearless Leader: and this leaf I'm doing is with the gold on the
outside
Fearless Leader: of the segments that make the leaf
Fearless Leader: just cranking out some quick canes so I can chop them
up
dahs512: oh ok.
Fearless Leader: so taking a blend
Fearless Leader: making a ribbon
Fearless Leader: slice down the center all the way down its length
Fearless Leader: roll the jelly rolls from opposite directions
Fearless Leader: do the dark is in the center for one
Fearless Leader: and the light is in the center for another
Fearless Leader: then do two leaves like this
Fearless Leader: and see the difference in how it looks
Fearless Leader: Now granted
dahs512: That's what I did with th rose petals
Fearless Leader: the one on the right has veins in between the
segments
Fearless Leader: which I did on purpose to show you how different it
looks with and without that side ways going veins coming off of the
center vein
Fearless Leader: one is not necessarily better than the other
Fearless Leader: just know that you can put in some variations if you
want to
Fearless Leader: now I'll do some lace cane with these jelly roll
blends
Fearless Leader: lace cane is so simple and has so many uses
Fearless Leader: the center of a flower
Fearless Leader: to make bug wings
Fearless Leader: now let's look at how that lace cane will look not
being blended
Fearless Leader: but just using a snake and a sheet

Fearless Leader: see how blurry the blend gets as the color changes
Fearless Leader: if you want to keep it crisp
Fearless Leader: do a sheet and snake jelly roll like the one on the
right
Fearless Leader: I'm showing you these things for we can use either
method

Fearless Leader: depending on what we're aiming for
Fearless Leader: a soft look
Fearless Leader: or crisp
Fearless Leader: Now... if each of the jelly rolls were surrounded
Fearless Leader: with another sheet or two
Fearless Leader: and then the lace cane was made
Fearless Leader: you'd get another look
Fearless Leader: and now if
Fearless Leader: the sheet you put inbetween the lace cane segment
Fearless Leader: segments
Fearless Leader: wasn't a solid color
Fearless Leader: or a sandwich of colors
Fearless Leader: but rather the side view of strips and strips of
alternating color
Fearless Leader: then you'll get a ribbon that is striped
Fearless Leader: put that between lace cane and you get dots going
around each section
Fearless Leader: it's a matter of going from the simple to the complex
Fearless Leader: I have enough cane made now to do a chop and then get
a mirror image, if there are no questions at this time
