11-16 and 17, 2002: Fish Scale Experiments

Sunday, 7-7:30, The start of the Stripies

Fearless Leader: I'm off for fresher experiences
Fearless Leader: he he he
Fearless Leader: and so are you
Fearless Leader: eh?

chelyha55: yeah!
techi_mom56: i did mine in two colors and i like the way it turned
out...
Fearless Leader: Oh cool Nancy
Fearless Leader: which two colors?
techi_mom56: its not as pronounced but very subtle...red with gold
flakes and gold
chelyha55: mine is subtle too.
chelyha55: gold flakes, that sounds cool
techi_mom56: and as usual i blended it a bit much...chuckle
chelyha55: NJ can you show us that thing you did where you cut the
loaf on the diagonal?
techi_mom56: i do the no pasta machine method with enthusiasum
chelyha55: me too Nancy
chelyha55: pretty
techi_mom56: its going to look great on little altoid boxes
chelyha55: oh I figured it out
Fearless Leader: ?
chelyha55: last nite you took a striped loaf and cut it diagonally and
reassembled it.
chelyha55: Looked like a spider web
Fearless Leader: that one
chelyha55: yeah that's it. anyway I figured it out
Fearless Leader: I'm thinking a folded vase
chelyha55: that would be great
Fearless Leader: coolness, I still have much practice to do with
making right angles
Fearless Leader: match up
Fearless Leader: but I'm getting there
Fearless Leader: I mean out of all my experiments we got the basket
weave
Fearless Leader: which I think you could run like a wild horse with
Fearless Leader: it's made for tube beads
Fearless Leader: pillow beads, that basket weave is sweet, you saw it
done before didn't you?
chelyha55: yes I like thatone
Fearless Leader: that's the nicest thing that's come out of my stacked
sheets experiment
Fearless Leader: I got a ways to go to get what is in my head
chelyha55: I need to practice lining up the edges
Fearless Leader: on the sheet
Fearless Leader: there's some geometric trick I'm missing
Fearless Leader: some "ah ha" sort of ping in the head
Fearless Leader: where like pool players can line up the balls
Fearless Leader: I want to line up my cut lines
Fearless Leader: to move around and reassemble
Fearless Leader: and KNOW it's going to come out as I expect it
Fearless Leader: right now
Fearless Leader: I'm having to be flexible with what comes out
Fearless Leader: so I don't get disappointed, so I stay in experiment
mode
Fearless Leader: where nothing disappoints, it's only different
Fearless Leader: and can be used else where
Fearless Leader: some how
dahs512: I have a sec and have been reading you NJ
techi_mom56: like blue wood
dahs512: geometric patterns
Fearless Leader: ya Denise
Fearless Leader: yes, you got tricks?
Fearless Leader: there's a math element to this stacked sheet
equation, some sort of geometry that is eluding me
dahs512: No but i found a pattern in a sewing kit thaty i want to
explore
dahs512: wanna see
dahs512: ?
Fearless Leader: sure, share it with us
Fearless Leader: elongated diamonds
Fearless Leader: well I'll be darn
Fearless Leader: now many points
Fearless Leader: 6
NikiT: looks like six
Fearless Leader: so twelve diamonds
NikiT: that's neat-o
Fearless Leader: ok, that's a doable thing
Fearless Leader: let's give that an effort after I finish with this
one
Fearless Leader: thanks
dahs512: do you know that illusion with the blocks
Fearless Leader: tumbling blocks
Fearless Leader: three colors
Fearless Leader: the same diamond
Fearless Leader: oooh ya
dahs512: the difference in colors gives it a step
chelyha55: I gotta get offline for a minute someone is trying to
callme. brb
Fearless Leader: k
dahs512: mixing colors is time cosuming but i find it calming
dahs512: consuming
dahs512: oooohhhh
Fearless Leader: sort of like fire works
dahs512: pretty
techi_mom56: pretty....
NikiT: purty
Fearless Leader: thanks, I'm aiming for a pleated pot with this one
Fearless Leader: keep the center as is
Fearless Leader: and pleat the rim of the pot only
dahs512: hmmmm
Fearless Leader: I got to get more juice I'm taking a break for 5
minutes
Fearless Leader: and I'll save log at this time
