Sept. 2002, Mini Food Demo: Banana Split for Syl, the third for the day |
Fearless Leader: ok, I guess
we're waiting for Syl Fearless Leader: so we can do banana splits again Fearless Leader: I need to prep more ice cream colored clay Fearless Leader: and make more sauce Fearless Leader: I'll leave open cam on Fearless Leader: but I should prep for the night owls Fearless Leader: who are due to show up any time now jude: I have no idea when she will get online. She told me she wanted to see the food demo, but that's no guarantee she will be here early. Her usual time is just past nine. Fearless Leader: are the two of you ok, or are there any other things you wanted to see while you have me all to yourselves? Fearless Leader: mini food wise jude: Nope, can't think of anything right now. Figures. Fearless Leader: LOL frogger70301: I'm good. Waiting on my lil orange to cool a bit so I can peel it. Fearless Leader: I'm cracking up here Jude jude: I'll just tend to my chores and check in here from time to time. Fearless Leader: ok, well I'm going to change the camera angle a bit and start mixing for the late show frogger70301: I got to say, though. I bought something I would have never thought I would buy. jude: Okie, sounds like a good time for a break anyway. Fearless Leader: What's that Mitch, ya break for sure jude: thanks for the corn demo. that was really Teat! jude: er...neat! Fearless Leader: Teat too frogger70301: Origami paper. Lizard print origami paper. Fearless Leader: even Fearless Leader: WOW jude: Right. Fearless Leader: Love that animal print origami paper Fearless Leader: for sure frogger70301: can I use it for texture? Fearless Leader: I'd slather TLS on it and paste it to a box Fearless Leader: you can use it for color check Fearless Leader: each cell Fearless Leader: is a blend Fearless Leader: of some sort frogger70301: not this one. jude: I do have a question, but it's not mini food. Fearless Leader: nope? Fearless Leader: Sure, Jude, what's up? frogger70301: no, but it has the texture. jude: Is there a way to transfer an image without using all the fancy-dancy paper, etc.? Fearless Leader: gosh jude: I have TLS and some magazines. frogger70301: glossy print? Fearless Leader: Let's kick this idea around then Fearless Leader: hold up jude: My nephew likes Elvis and I thought and Elvis box would be good. frogger70301: If it's glossy, you should be able to use the pages from it. Fearless Leader: I had some pictures cut out jude: I have their catalog...Graceland, that is and thought I could use one of the pictures there, they are pretty good, and put it on a box. Fearless Leader: why can we put one of these pictures on a sheet of translucent and then paint over it with TLS? Fearless Leader: like decoupage? Fearless Leader: or even do a decoupage thing with pictures straight onto a box? jude: Hmmm...now that's an idea! Fearless Leader: picture, TLS, picture TLS sylsnovelties joined the room Fearless Leader: like that frogger70301: k, ladies. Pray for me. I'm peeling. Fearless Leader: SYL jude: Sending prayers. Fearless Leader: please peel and lettuce play jude: syl is online and I told her to get her arse over here. jude: hehehehe sylsnovelties: Howdy Fearless Leader: She's here Fearless Leader: hey we've been doing mini food sylsnovelties: Oh my, Elvis!!! Fearless Leader: and were waiting for you jude: Geez....can't do a thing! Fearless Leader: was thinking of doing TLS, picture, TLS, Picture jude: Remember I was going to do an Elvis box, Syl? sylsnovelties: I had to soak my leg, put it up, all that crap! frogger70301: DONE! Fearless Leader: like decoupage jude: Oh, the usual! Dang! sylsnovelties: Sure do Jude! jude: Yes, I might try that. Fearless Leader: Sorry Syl, shim poi poi jude: This catalog has some terrific pictures! Fearless Leader: MITCH Fearless Leader: how did it turn out? frogger70301: I like it! jude: How did it go, Mitch? jude: Syl, Mitch is peeling her orange! sylsnovelties: Did a sunburn peel? jude: It's just out of the oven. sylsnovelties: Ahhh! sylsnovelties: Oh, even better! Fearless Leader: Syl I'll show you some of what was done and you can tell me what you'd like to see first Fearless Leader: ok? sylsnovelties: ok jude: What do you think? sylsnovelties: Do I need to do screen shots, or has that already been done? Oh yummy! Banana split! jude: That was roast beef dinner. frogger70301: I'm gonna send a pic through the list. rubensmodel joined the room frogger70301: Hey, Edie. frogger70301: right name, huh? sylsnovelties: Weird thing. I was sitting there tonight watching some TV and wondering if I have the colors I need to do a banana split! heeheehee Fearless Leader: so shall we do banana splits? sylsnovelties: yes, please Fearless Leader: ok, I'll mix some ice cream colors Fearless Leader: vanilla isn't white Fearless Leader: it's creamy, a bit of yellow Fearless Leader: a touch of brown sylsnovelties: no, creamier Fearless Leader: Strawberry ice cream is very pale pink Fearless Leader: chocolate is a light brown Fearless Leader: so that's the mixes I'll be doing sylsnovelties: Yup, sounds right. sylsnovelties: Ok, sounds good. Fearless Leader: for the banana I used the pearl/white/translucent mix Fearless Leader: with a touch of brown Fearless Leader: for it's not really white white either Fearless Leader: ok, so I'll change focus and start mixing the clay we need Fearless Leader: good time for a log save Fearless Leader: and if Syl can capture this collection of foods here Fearless Leader: that'll be a nice end to the early shift sylsnovelties: got it rubensmodel: hi! sorry, I was on another screen actually doing some work <grin> they do pay me after all! sylsnovelties: Hi Edie rubensmodel: Glad to be here watching with you all! jude: Mitch, your orange looks terrific! jude: Just saw the picture you sent. frogger70301: Thank you. Fearless Leader: Mitch it does look great Fearless Leader: Kathy did a good job on the banana split too jude: She did? I'll go take another look! sylsnovelties: Both look great! jude: She sure did! It's great too! sylsnovelties: Orange looks juicy! Fearless Leader: had to make a bowl for the banana split sylsnovelties: Is the bowl a leaf? Fearless Leader: here's the banana, gonna cut it in half to get two sides Fearless Leader: yup Fearless Leader: I use leaf cane and wood grain for food Fearless Leader: hate to make dishes really sylsnovelties: ok, got it. Fearless Leader: boring Fearless Leader: LOL frogger70301: Wow, I'm gonna have to try a banana split tomorrow. Fearless Leader: so I'll cut this banana half in half and round off the cuts and put the two banana halves in the bowl Fearless Leader: everything is uncured Fearless Leader: including the bowl Fearless Leader: that way the bowl will give Fearless Leader: when your snuggling in stuff frogger70301: The banana mix, is that all equal parts Fearless Leader: ??? Fearless Leader: it's all mixed up Fearless Leader: in a food processor frogger70301: the white, pearl, trans Fearless Leader: I break off bits and mix it down, they started out equal frogger70301: sorry, hit the wrong button. Fearless Leader: but the mix... sometimes when I break off a chunk Fearless Leader: it might have more of one than the others Fearless Leader: I might chop it down smaller Fearless Leader: depends on what I am making Fearless Leader: but I rarely use white when doing foods frogger70301: k, thnx. Fearless Leader: always white with pearl and trans, for food is juicy Fearless Leader: and rarely lily white Fearless Leader: sorry I can't give you exact amounts, experiment and trust your eyes frogger70301: thnx. Fearless Leader: I will form the ice cream into cone shapes, makes setting them in the bowl easier if they are cone shaped going in Fearless Leader: do the outer ones first Fearless Leader: snuggle the middle one in last Fearless Leader: that way the middle will be a bit higher, looks better than way I think Fearless Leader: now we will mix TLS with different clay mixes Fearless Leader: one mix for strawberry Fearless Leader: one for butterscotch sylsnovelties: For the sauces. Fearless Leader: one for chocolate Fearless Leader: yes sylsnovelties: Ummm Fearless Leader: got to get some sauce on that ice cream before the whipped cream jude: Yay chocolate! Fearless Leader: Burnt umber straight out of the pack is perfect chocolate Fearless Leader: dark chocolate Fearless Leader: add white for milk chocolate sylsnovelties: Jude, watch the food channel at 10 your time. a 10 pound chocolate bar. Fearless Leader: so next to our naked banana split jude: Best kind is dark chocoalte. sylsnovelties: I like milk! Fearless Leader: is the red mix for the strawberry sauce Fearless Leader: I'll go through the three sauces without stopping Fearless Leader: and before the whipped cream I'll stop to take any questions, ok? sylsnovelties: ok Fearless Leader: any questions now? sylsnovelties: so far, I'm with you. jude: Do you bits in the sauces? frogger70301: me too. jude: Like bits of strawberries in the red one? Fearless Leader: for jam, marmelade, bits are good Fearless Leader: for this strawberry Fearless Leader: the bits would be hidden Fearless Leader: for the most part Fearless Leader: on a slice of bread Fearless Leader: I'd leave bits in Fearless Leader: for berry jam and that sort of thing jude: Okie, you figure they strained the sauce. Sounds cool. jude: Fearless Leader: for these, it's the homogonized sauce, no lumps sylsnovelties: heeheehee lumpless Fearless Leader: lump free zone here jude: Soudns good to me! Fearless Leader: so if there's no other questions I'll get to doing these sauces sylsnovelties: Last night NJ did chocolates! jude: She did? jude: I missed chocolates? sylsnovelties: After you left. jude: Dang. sylsnovelties: Kay and I were fighting over who could lick the exacto knife! heeheehee jude: It figures. jude: Who won? sylsnovelties: We both have cuts on our tongues today! We shared! jude: Oh, geez... jude: Oh, lookie the sauce! That is so neat. jude: I want a bowl of just chocolate sauce and whipped cream. jude: And a big spoon. sylsnovelties: heeheehee jude: I haven't had real whipped cream in years. sylsnovelties: me either. Cool whip is too easy jude: Yes, but just not the same. jude: I used to like freshed whipped. Yum. jude: Oh, that is so neat the way she does that. Fearless Leader: I'll take questions now Fearless Leader: before I go to the whipped cream jude: Do you put nuts on? Fearless Leader: we could Fearless Leader: I have stuff in the cooks mix we can chop up Fearless Leader: after the whipped cream jude: I actually prefer mine without, but most the world likes them. Fearless Leader: before the cherries Fearless Leader: I don't do nuts on banana splits Fearless Leader: I like my nuts in Rocky Road jude: Good for you. sylsnovelties: I just want a spoon! Fearless Leader: any questions before I whip this cream jude: I don't do banana splits, but that's nother story. Fearless Leader: once a year Fearless Leader: I do them once a year jude: Got to keep your toe in, right? Fearless Leader: it's a pilgrimage to Mel's Drive In Fearless Leader: listen to 1950 rock and roll Fearless Leader: sit in a booth Fearless Leader: have a banana split and a cherry coke sylsnovelties: Oh yumm! jude: Yes. I have a madness of sorts for hot fudge sundaes. Fearless Leader: and pretend I'm a teen again Fearless Leader: sing along with the songs with all the other boomers Fearless Leader: LOL Fearless Leader: on to whipped cream then jude: Bob's Big Boy used to have the very best (after twohees) around. frogger70301: K, I got a banana in a bowl. sylsnovelties: Great Mitch! jude: Fantastic, Mitch. sylsnovelties: We have dairy queen here! jude: My clay area isn't close enough to my computer to do. Sigh... jude: Dairy Queen is good! frogger70301: I'm gonna wait till tom to do the ice cream. jude: We have a Baskin Robbins. jude: Never been in it. jude: That is interesting the way she mixes that with her craft knife. sylsnovelties: Yeah, kind of mashes it up. Fearless Leader: about whipped cream jude: Right on the tile. I would probably put it into a cup or something. On the tile looks better, easier. Fearless Leader: be careful to not leave any lumps jude: Right. Fearless Leader: because the TLS doesn't show you Fearless Leader: what will be a white lump Fearless Leader: and clear clay sylsnovelties: No lumps, ok. Fearless Leader: until it's all said and done Fearless Leader: so even though at this consistency Fearless Leader: it looks ok Fearless Leader: it's not Fearless Leader: it's a lump trap Fearless Leader: don't fall for it Fearless Leader: now I will go back and whip the heck out of the lumps jude: Like mashed potatoes...the lumps hide. sylsnovelties: Can you feel around with your fingers? frogger70301: that would prob be a little messy. Fearless Leader: don't feel around with your fingers with TLS Fearless Leader: it's sticky Fearless Leader: messy Fearless Leader: and probably a tox overload Fearless Leader: on some systems Fearless Leader: ya know? sylsnovelties: ok, just checking. jude: Really? That's good to know. I'd probably mix it with fingers. Fearless Leader: also, the amount we use for minis jude: Won't do that now. Fearless Leader: what we use will just go into our finger prints Fearless Leader: it's very little Fearless Leader: our fingers bring dirt and grit too, it would waste your TLS Fearless Leader: you see how little I touch this banana split Fearless Leader: use the tools a lot Fearless Leader: fingers little sylsnovelties: ok, got it! jude: I am learning to do that, more and more. jude: BTW, the last box I did had no sanding at all on it. Fearless Leader: using the Tools? Jude? Fearless Leader: more than finger tips jude: Not one bit. I am amazed with myself! Fearless Leader: like how we cover boxes Fearless Leader: hold it from the inside Fearless Leader: totally cool I thought you could avoid a lot of that sanding Fearless Leader: if we handled it with care in the construction stage Fearless Leader: I'll put the whipped cream on this thing and let's roll up some cherries jude: I have problems holding things, so do what I can. The bottom is ok cause of the lip where the top goes. The top itself is the problem. jude: But, I did get it done with no dings and no sanding. It was great. sylsnovelties: You, pro, you! heeheehee jude: Watch that! jude: hehehehe jude: OPh, wow. jude: er...Oh, wow. Fearless Leader: Syl, when folks ask a question, I give all the information I can think of, not just for the person present now, but for those who come to read the logs Fearless Leader: so don't feel like I was slamming you honey Fearless Leader: I download all I can think on the subject, it's for those who are not here Fearless Leader: like the informational salad bar Fearless Leader: take what you need sylsnovelties: No problem. Fearless Leader: leave the rest Fearless Leader: so what ya wanna see next? Fearless Leader: food wise rubensmodel: personally, I'd like to see the Dairy Queen Delivery Team pull up at the office door! sylsnovelties: Was that a salad a bit ago? Fearless Leader: LOL rubensmodel: You're amazing, NJ! Fearless Leader: and you can be amazing too Fearless Leader: I give away all my discoveries Fearless Leader: I want our claymates to kick major clay butt rubensmodel: hear, hear! jude: Yay! sylsnovelties: Sounds good to me! I want to do some for the craft fair. Fearless Leader: so this is Short Order Time Fearless Leader: what's on the menu Ladies Fearless Leader: it's your mini food night jude: She did corn for me Syl! |
