choose the next thing to do
Fearless Leader: what's your pleasure?
lindaslists: i'm here for the clothes
daytonlinda: oh me, i am terrified of sculpting. i just like to watch
you in amazement
tedi382001 left the room
Fearless Leader: by themselves or on a doll?
lindaslists: by themselves
Fearless Leader: LOL Ohio Linda, now now there there
Fearless Leader: ok, let's get some paper and something to draw on and
talk about clothing patterns, ok?
lindaslists: ok
daytonlinda: its true. esp with the little jumps, the web cam makes
everything look like magic
lindaslists: I got my cutters today like you used with the pumpkin.
Now to make pumpkin favors for a party and put beads inside
instead of candy
lindaslists: or earrings
lindaslists: just like real sewing patterns
Fearless Leader: Linda B, you taking screen shots for this?
lindaslists: not set up, just a minute
lindaslists: ok
Fearless Leader: Trick to putting a 2 dimensional thing
Fearless Leader: on a three dimensional object
Fearless Leader: like fabric to clothing
Fearless Leader: we have to translate the curves on the body
Fearless Leader: look at the bodice pattern
Fearless Leader: I'm going to draw a "L" shape that will outline the
under arm area
Fearless Leader: when you are going under the arm
Fearless Leader: your pattern has to go OUTWARD
Fearless Leader: to accomodate it
lindaslists: ok
Fearless Leader: ok, for the crotch of the pants, I'll draw the L that
will surround the crotch
Fearless Leader: are we following so far?
daytonlinda: for once you are doing something i know like the back of
my hand
Fearless Leader: LOL, good, it's all transferable knowledge
Fearless Leader: Linda B, you with me here?
lindaslists: just a moment so I can save these few
Fearless Leader: ok
Fearless Leader: just say when
lindaslists: ok ready
Fearless Leader: Ok, what goof people up is the upper arm
Fearless Leader: let me draw you something
Fearless Leader: ok, here's the front and back of a bodice
Fearless Leader: this curve is the shoulder cap of the sleeve
lindaslists: ok, need the pic of the sleeve and seams
Fearless Leader: ok
Fearless Leader: just say when
lindaslists: show it please
Fearless Leader: I'm doing this way
Fearless Leader: the other way didn't show it well
lindaslists: the last one you drew
Fearless Leader: so this is the shot you should use
lindaslists: I liked it
lindaslists: thats it got it, I remember that from home ec
lindaslists: ok
Fearless Leader: ok, here is the front and back of a bodice
Fearless Leader: that curve there on the left is the shoulder cap of
the sleeve
Fearless Leader: where the arm hole curves to accomodate the under arm
Fearless Leader: the sleep pattern has to curve too
Fearless Leader: to match
Fearless Leader: does that make sense?
lindaslists: yes
lindaslists: that is a good pic
Fearless Leader: ok, when cutting out clothing out of clay
daytonlinda: that looks clear to non-sewers
Fearless Leader: we use these same principles
Fearless Leader: I taught sewing at home when my older boys were
babies
Fearless Leader: 30 years ago
Fearless Leader: so this is like old home week for me
Fearless Leader: I want to also do demos on how to sew fabric mini
clothing
Fearless Leader: but that's down the line
lindaslists: I used to sew all of my kids clotrhes when they were tiny
Fearless Leader: dolls are just tinier
Fearless Leader: LOL
Fearless Leader: ok so how do we translate that to clay?
lindaslists left the room
daytonlinda: clay can just moosh together!
Fearless Leader: woops we lost Linda B
lindaslists joined the room
Fearless Leader: ah welcome back LindaB
lindaslists: clip seams?
Fearless Leader: let me save this log while you get settled
