The reason why I use translucent as well as white is I want some less intense greens that will allow light to fall in, to give depth. The white will lighten up the green but also it will loose the translucency. Trick here is to layer the clay with a lot of translucence next to the light opaque sections. Once the light falls in let it bounce off of the lighter sheet. If you put translucent layers next to black or the darkest green you don't get that light bouncing back effect. This rule applies to all layering of translucent sheets.
